The human and animal remains found in Tombs 8, 9 and 10 at the megalithic necropolis of El Barranquete (Níjar, Almería) are discussed in this paper. The anthropological characterization shows a population with an under-representation of subadult individuals as result of possibly taphonomic processes. The health conditions are dominated by degenerative joint diseases and a good dental health. As regards of animal remains stand out species such as sheep, goats, cattle and pigs in addition to  seashells. All these anthropological and faunal evidences appear mixed in the different ritual spaces of each grave making complex palimpsests of difficult interpretation.
